Crackle

Crackle defies all preconceptions and makes a glassblower’s nightmare – cracked glass – its raison d’être. Here it is used to give the object beauty and character. The mold is dug out of clay by hand and the cracked surface is formed using an ancient technique where the hot glass is dipped in ice cold water. The result is a serie of objects whose expression changes depending on perspective and distance, reminiscent of sculptures made of colored ice.

Crackle by Kosta Boda was launched in 2020 and consists of vases and a bowl, all mouth-blown in Kosta. In 2023, the Crackle Circular series won the prestigious international ‘Best of the Best’ - Red Dot Design Award.
